Happy Thanksgiving

I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Turkey Day!

Sven

I have let Sven down. 

I was worried when I signed up for the challenge that I wouldn’t be able to fully participate.  The one thing that Sven has helped me do is get back to writing.  I used to write all the time when I was younger and it was something that I always wanted to do.  Because of this challenge I have started a lot of new stories that I continue to work on, but real life has made it so I’m not keeping up with my word count.  Of course my goal has never been how many words I can write a day, it has been to finish one story.  Hopefully I will still be able to complete that goal. 

New Story

My husband and I are starting a story together.  Right now it is called The Killing Hand.  I don’t know if that is what we will actually call the book.  Basically I’ll be writing the narrator part and my husband will be writing the part of the serial killer in the book.  I’m going for a Horror/Suspense/Romance theme for the book.  My husband and I have different writing styles so it should be interesting to see how this goes. 

Update

Silly me!  My son wasn’t home this weekend and I was planning on doing a little writing and a couple reviews, but what did I do?  I walked out of my office on Friday and forgot to take my Flash Drive!

I do most of my writing at my day job and at one time I was emailing myself the updates so I could try to work from home.  The only problem with that is I almost lost an update.  It was then that I decided to purchase a portable drive so I wouldn’t have to worry about losing my material.  The only problem with that is when I FORGET to take the drive with me!

Needless to say I didn’t get anything done this weekend.  I did spend a little quality time with my husband and we had some people over.  I guess that is a plus. 

Reviewing

Lately I’ve only been posting about the writing challenge so I thought today I would write about something else! 

Just recently I’ve started to do reviews for Joyfully Reviewed.   http://www.joyfullyreviewed.com/   I’m very excited about this because I LOVE to read.  I’ve only done about 3 reviews so far.  I have two I need to write and two that I need to read before I review them.  

It has been a very positive experience and everyone at Joyfully Reviewed is so nice and helpful!

I’ve never realized how hard it is to actually review a book.  For me it is harder to write my opinion of a book then to write a story.  When I’m working with my own material the words just flow.  When I’m reviewing I have to actually sit down and think about what I liked or didn’t like about the story.  So far I’ve been lucky and liked everything I’ve read!  I’m sure that won’t always be the case, but I hope that I have enough tack to write a good review with out being mean!

New Update

I think I’ve found out what my problem is.  I keep having these ideas that I need to write down before I can finish what I’m working on.  I’ve started two new books during the writing challenge.  My mind is all over the place!   

I’m not writing a full 1,000 words a day, but I am writing on most days.  For this check in I wrote 1696 words.  I think I’ve written before that it is difficult for me to write on the weekends.  I try to get a little time in, but with my families crazy schedule during the week I try to take time for them during the weekend.  Next weekend I should have a little more time.  My son is visiting his grandparents!
